If you are interested in organizing a school session
with one of our artists outside of Germany, please send
an e-mail to
ERNESTINE VARGA, artists_in_school@yahoo.com
,
or in Germany and Vienna, to
SABINE VON IMHOFF, svi@rhapsody-in-school.de
,
specifying your type of institution, your school’s
postal address, participating
class grade(s) and, eventually, if an upright or grand
piano is available on the premises.
Our artists participate on an honorary basis. Still,
your school should either reimburse the artist for local
transportation expenses or transfer a corresponding
donation to the Association "Musiker
Hautnah " (approx. estimated amount: 1 Euro
per pupil participating in the project).
Once an artist’s visit has been agreed upon, you
might find the following tips useful in helping you
prepare the time before and after the encounter:
|
| - From the very beginning, please actively
involve your pupils in preparing the session |
| - Elaborate with them a series of questions you could
ask the artist |
| - Ask them to specify which music styles
they like to hear |
| - What do they associate with the term
"classical music"? |
| - Maybe view the artist's website together with your
class |
| - They can also do some preliminary research on the
musical instrument |
| - The pupils can eventually bring their own musical
instruments when the artists comes to visit
their class |
| - If the musician is also performing in
your town, maybe you would like to visit the concert
together with your |
| - Do you need help in contacting the concert
organizer? |
| - After the session, ask the pupils to write down their
impressions, describing the music they heard
and what they learned about the instrument |
| - If possible, take some photos or make
a video! “Rhapsody in School” would be grateful
if you could send us a copy, along with eventual
local press coverage. Thank you! |
| - After the encounter with the artist,
we would be grateful if you could send us some of your
pupils' written impressions. This helps us maintain complete,
up-to-date documentation of Rhapsody in School's
activities. |
| - If you have any interesting contacts,
please inform your local press |
| - If a reporter plans to be present during
the session: please don't forget to request the parents'
written permission that the pupils can be photographed
and/or interviewed. |
| - If the visiting artists are an instrumental ensemble,
please have music stands available and set
them up beforehand. |
| - Appropriate “Thank You” gifts for the
artist(s): self-made presents, chocolates, wine or local
specialties. Flowers, however, are not ideal, since the
artists tend to have a busy travel schedule.
