Rhapsody goes Opera
Singers have been joining the Rhapsody in School network since 2006 – Christiane Oelze, Christoph Immler, Christoph Prégardien among others – who are widely and very well respecetd artist for their lieder recitals.
The Croatian baritone Miljenko Turk, ensemble member of the Cologne Opera house, is a proven singer-actor who has often inspired children and adolescents with his humorous Rhapsody-Sessions – once again late 2017, when saw pupils from the Wilhelm-Busch-Hauptschule in Wesseling.
Miljenko so utterly enchanted the young people that they spontaneously asked him when they could see him on stage. We quickly organized a return visit in December 2017. The “Turk-Fans” became opera fans and want to experience other operas after their “Fledermaus”- experience.
At the same time, the International Opera Studio Cologne also visited a primary school in Cologne and thus laid the foundation for intensive cooperation – the young singers are burning for the idea of “infecting” children with their singing.
Other German opera houses are joining and including “Rhapsody goes Opera” into their educational program.
With the Deutsche Oper and the Staatsoper Berlin, we have the pledges of two renowned houses, whose artists certainly will not only visit the schools, but will also lure more young people to their magnificent opera productions.
We are ready for them and stay tuned!
